Many computer users are bothered by trojan desktop.ini:
Victim 1:
"Well, it is clear that is basically the “Bug”, which is obviously a mistake, and it has been somewhere put on or has been created. Well, as it is an error or mistake, it needs to be fixed and good to know that this auto open error is much easier to do. It’s so simple that it can be easily removed by deleting the desktop.ini startup folder. It has been always loaded up each time windows boot up."
Victim 2:
"My computer is really acting crazy. Her is a list of some of the things that I see happening. It’s running windows 8.1
Operating system files like, Thumbs.db and desktop.ini keep showing up on my desktop, and when I plug in a USB drive they show up there.
I did go to option files and checked, Hide extensions for known file types, hide protected operating system files, and hide folder merge conflicts. Once I click apply and ok, those file do disappear. But when I turn off the computer and turn it back on, the files reappear everywhere I mentioned before. Also, the check marks I put in options file, to hide this file are also gone.
The internet is now freezing every once in a while, and it is slow.
Back button does not work on the first click. If I click it more then one time, it will go back more then 2 pages.
Another thing the computer is does is, it’s putting the word (doc) at the end of all my documents. It did not do this before.
I would hate to have to do a factory restore on this computer.
Can anyone help? Please."
Victim 3:
"Hope someone can help me?
My system will not boot up - goes to startup repair - which fails - I try system restore and it says a file in my itues media folder is corrupted - long file end Desktop.ini
I have tried and failed to delete this from command prompt using DEL/F/S/Q/A but without success
Thanks in advance."
